Nintendo 3DS

Yesterday the new Nintendo 3DS was officially for sale. Search the interenet for information about this new device. Tell us all of the interesting things you find out about the 3DS. Include an image or video and remember to cite the source.

This device uses a new technology called Augmented Reality, or AR. This is what enables the images to appear to be jumping out at you. Right now in math, you are studying 3D objects, surface area, and volume. Volume is the amount of space that something takes up. A 3 Dimensional object takes up more space than a 2D object. When you wear 3d glasses, the objects you are looking at appear to come out at you. They look more realistic than flat 2D objects. The special configuration of an AR sensor together with a computer  are what create an image to appear 3D. That is why you do not need to wear 3D glasses. I saw an example of Augmented Reality at the tech conference in February and it is truly awesome. You can basically bring any 2D image to life with the use of these AR sensors. This is the technology that Nintendo has put into the 3DS.

Here is a link to a clip of the president of Nintendo and late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon trying out the new device.

  1. Wow I never thought that people would come up wit such amazing things like creatig a new gameing seat. This new idea helps encourage other people to use more technology to have an idea on what they want to create for the future. I really liked this idea of creating a gameing seat!:)
