I think that Mike Mika's dad is really nice for him to doing that for her.She actually asked the game creator to change the game a little bit the way she wanted it to be.If I was her I would be proud of my dad

That dad is a really good dad to go out of his way to change a game for his daughter and should be noticed for it because that was a brave thing to do. It had made the creators mad but he just reversed the characters. I think he did a good thing for his daughter and I am proud of him that sounds like a fun game.

I believe by adding feminine characters it will give a larger audience for the game. And he also put a girls perspective in the game so I thought that was very nice of him for his daughter.n

ReplyDeleteI like that he changed the main character to a girl because in mostly all games the main character is a boy and it's just something new! It's exciting to have a game that was specifically made for us girls!
ReplyDeleteI think what he did wasn't anything bad at all, he just switched the characters to make his daughter happy. I guess, in some ways, it could be considered as disrespectful because he changed it from its original version, but changes are made to games all the time. I don't think it's bad because the game is still the same thing, you still have to do everything the same, but you'd just be playing as a girl. There's nothing wrong with that.

ReplyDeleteI don't think it was right of him to change the game entire but, it was very sweet of him to this for his daughter. I do have to agree with the critics though, i mean you cant change a whole book for your daughter, you can't change a movie for her, and you certainly can't change a REAL life situation for her. I do find it very found that he did this for his daughter. It's very sweet of him to change her mind about guys always being the protagonists, but yet, he can't be doing this all the time. I mean what happens when she gets tired of books because they are all about the guy saving the girl. He wont be able to change the whole book. Or maybe the girl doesn't like a movie, he can't just go and make a whole new movie just to please her needs. There are some things in life that we just can't get. The girl is going to grow up believing she can get whatever she wants, and it's not very good for her. She needs to learn that it's not always going to happen her way. He is just spoiling his daughter which is not a good thing, she is going to grow up believing stuff that wont ever happen in real life. With that I leave.

Second, I think of it, not in a bad way, but if the game is like that, then it is like that. In conclusion, I think that this father showed love and compassion by making her little girl be Pauline to rescue Mario!

I mean who would go threw all of this wasting time , difficult coding , bad reviews just to make his little girl happy . I i have to disagree with some of my peers , but he did an amazing job and truth be told it does get a little tiring having to play as the guy in the game to save the girl . Making us females look pretty weak which we're definitely not !!! So I respect his work he did a good job . I cant wait to play as Pauline .

Also the little girl that is very interested is not experiencing the real game that takes the whole fun away from it. That is my opinion of this article. Although, Pauline loves it all of the game designers and developers are kind of hating on this dad because he changed their work that is famous and altered it.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm not sure what to say about this. I think it's great of a father to have done such thing for his daughter. Although, editing the game bothers me. I wouldn't like if someone did this to me. I know Mika loves his daughter and would do anything to keep their children happy like any other parent but at the same time, i believe her daughter could be going spoiled. I dislike spoiling kids because It's a useless action, you're probably teaching them the wrong way. Anyways, I don't think this was the right thing for Mika to do.

That is really nice for her father to hack a game for her but it's not teaching her a very valuable lesson because the daughter isn't going to get handed everything in life. Or maybe everyone is over thinking it and she doesn't know how hard her father had to work so maybe she just does not care.
ReplyDeleteI think it was really nice for him to do that for little Pauline, many people "Hack" ROMs of games today and game companies don't really seem to care... take Pokemon for example the fans of that game have made plenty of their own versions of it, I also am making a "Hacked ROM" of the game and there is nothing wrong with it.

ReplyDeleteI think it's good idea for Mike to change the gender of the main character because in most of the games today they have mostly male main characters and not as much female characters you see today. And others that will read or play this game will learn an valuable lesson that a female can be a hero and have a big role in saving the world. Even if its a video game. You know that in the Bible, God says: that without women in this world there would be no human race on earth. And society now a days does not give them the credit that females deserve. But I can see how some people who see a female as a hero in a video game most people and males will not bother to buy or pick it up. ReplyDeleteI believe that Mika did a really great thing for his daughter. I don't think that he meant for it to cause so much controversy with genders and things like that. I also agree that modifying a game for the better is always a compliment to the game creator. So, to sum it all up, I don't think what he did was wrong at all.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it may be morally correct and morally right, it is not commercially correct.
ReplyDeleteBut the ROM was already an open source of the game, so if Mr. Mike gets sued by Nintendo it's Nintendo who will pay HIM, not the other way around.
It was really cool that the dad changed the game for her daughter . And for people that are getting mad over this have no reason to because many game companies allow this to happen and even more when the game is so old .
ReplyDeleteI think that he is an amazing dad for trying to satisfy his daughter. I also think that there might be conflics between Nintendo and Mr.Mike. He made a copy of the original game and made slightly different changes such as making the character a girl. I think this is very nice but it could be trouble for him in the future.

ReplyDeleteModifying... also most commonly know to gamers as "MODS".This small modification that the dad made to the game Donkey Kong was not necessarily something to discus about, due to the fact that all he did was change the roll of the characters.In my opinion he did not hack the game at all.All he did was "MOD'' it so he could please her daughter and keep her playing games with him.

Like to please his daughter and to have a female hero, however personally I would not hack a game just to please my daughter,and it shows little respect to the people who took a lot of time and effort to create the game in the first place. But I guess if it doesn't take much effort to hack into a game then that means that the creators really didn't care if their were to be modified. I also agree that there are few games that have female hero but I really don't mind, I mean as long as I can play the game, everything's okay.

So for all that people that are getting mad there's no reason for them to get mad. At the end you are allowed to change a game. Even better he changed it for good action. I really hope she grows up always loving her dad, and i'm glad he got well known for such talent in hacking video games although it may be copyright. But either way he did a fantastic job.

I know many people who hack but I call them script kiddies because some just go to a web site and download the hack.But I don't see why people are arguing weather this was right or wrong. He changed the game for his daughter , only one copy of the game got changed , not every copy , so why talk about it ? I think the father was good to pleasing his daughter.

All he did was just change the characters, no big thing. On the article it mentions that he was getting criticized for doing that. Whats so wrong about modifying a game to be compatible to gender? Anyways I think that the dad is cool for doing that and I'm pretty sure the daughter will appreciate this later in life...

ReplyDeleteI think what the dad did for his daughter was really caring of him,. When he said that he just wanted his daughter to keep playing games with him, that really got to me . Because when you have kids and their still small that's the time when you are supposed take advantage of their child hood. That is when you have to play with them and spend time with them and love them. Because when they grow up and they become more aware of life they are going to spend more time on other things. The parents are not going to have much time to spend with them. That's why you are supposed to love children and take advantage of their life when they are innocent when they are angels.

This story is about a girl who could play a game but she didn't want to play MARIO she wanted to a play a girl. So her dad made her play but if she played she would have to play the boy and she refused to do that. So her dad hacked into the game which i didn't know you could do that. So after her dad did that for here she wanted to play the game and now that's one of her favorite games now what and AMAZING story!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis story is about a girl who loves to play Donkey Kong the game with her dad who does a little bit of game designing. So one week she wanted to play the game but a bit different. She wanted to play as the girl to rescue Mario, and at first her dad said he couldn't, but later on down the road he hacked into the game and did a little bit of code changing, and made his daughter play as the girl instead of playing as the boy. I don't know how she is a hero though. I only read the first two paragraphs and summed it up from that.

ReplyDeleteI think it was a good idea for him to change the game.While it may change the way people feel about the game, it still gives a sense of equality between genders, and that's something that's only being seen recently in gaming. Maybe this can inspire more people to make games that feature women as the main protagonist. If men complain they have nothing to play, there's thousands of other older games they can play that feature men, because if you don't think women can be heroes, you're seriously outdated.
